Health Care REIT, Inc. Appoints Thomas DeRosa as CEO (HCN)Apr 14, 2014On Monday, Health Care REIT, Inc. (HCN) reported that it has appointed Thomas DeRosa as CEO to replace George Chapman. DeRosa is the former Vice Chairman and CFO of The Rouse Company and will start his new position as HCN's CEO immediately. Champan, who has retired from his role of President and CEO will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor for HCN. HCN's lead director, Jeffrey Donahue has been appointed to be Chairman of the board, which will separate the roles of CEO and Chairman. George Chapman commented: “It has been an honor to lead HCN, its talented management team and dedicated employees over the past two decades. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am confident HCN is well positioned to succeed. While I will miss my day-to-day role at HCN, now is the right time for me to move on and serve the company in a different capacity. Tom knows our company well and has been a tremendous asset over the years. I am confident HCN has a bright future and that Tom is the right choice to lead the company at this time. I look forward to supporting Tom and the rest of the management team in any way I can to implement a seamless transition.”

Goldman Sachs Resumes Coverage on Health Care REIT at "Neutral" (HCN)Sep 17, 2013Early on Tuesday, Goldman Sachs analysts resumed coverage on Health Care REIT, Inc (HCN) , giving the company a tepid rating due to lower-than-average earnings growth expectations. The analysts rate HCN as "Neutral" and see shares reaching $61. This price target suggests a slight downside to the stock's Monday closing price of $62.81. Goldman Sachs analyst Andrew Rosivach said, "The price target is based on a target 2018E AFFO multiple in line with our sector average, which is warranted given the company’s high-quality portfolio, but an estimated lower-than-average earnings growth." Health Care REIT shares were up 25 cents, or 0.40%, during early morning trading on Tuesday. The stock is up 2.37% year-to-date.

Health Care REIT Q2 FFO and Revenues Beat Estimates (HCN)Aug 6, 2013Before the bell on Tuesday, Health Care REIT, Inc. (HCN) reported a decline in second quarter net income. However, both the company's funds from operations and revenues rose, topping Wall Street analysts' expectations. The Toledo, Ohio-based company posted a second quarter net income of $7.18 million, down from $76.88 million last year. However, Health Care REIT's second quarter funds from operation (FFO) were 93 cents per share, up about 4% from the 89 cents per share in FFO posted a year ago. According to analysts, the company was expected to see 92 cents per share in FFO in the quarter. Funds from operations is a typical measurement of earnings when looking at real estate investment trusts. It usually adds depreciation and amortization expenses to earnings, minus gains from the sale of properties. The company's revenues came in at $682.13 million, up from $438.72 million last year. Analysts were expecting the company to see $665.74 million in revenues for the quarter. Health Care REIT shares were inactive during pre-market trading on Tuesday. The stock is up 3.34% year-to-date.
