ADTRAN Q3 Profits Climb 75% on Higher Revenues and Lower Expenses (ADTN)Oct 9, 2013ADTRAN, Inc. (ADTN) , a provider of networking and communications equipment, reported early on Wednesday that its third quarter earnings rose substantially year-over-year, due to an increase in revenues and a decrease in operating expenses in the quarter. The company's results were able to top Wall Street estimates. The Huntsville, Alabama-based company posted a third quarter net income of $16.21 million, or 28 cents per share, up 75% from the $9.27 million, or 15 cents per share, earned in the same period a year ago. Excluding certain items, ADTRAN posted a third quarter adjusted net income of 32 cents per share, up from 20 cents per share last year. According to analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, the company was expected to earn 22 cents per share in the third quarter. The company's revenues advanced to $177.40 million in the most recent quarter, up about 9% from the $162.13 million in revenues posted in the third quarter of 2012. On average, analysts were expecting the company to see $173.83 million in revenues for the quarter. Tom Stanton, Chief Executive Officer of Adtran said, "The performance for the quarter was driven by lower operating expenses combined with a strong performance by both our Carrier and Enterprise businesses. The results were positively impacted by our international business which achieved a record revenue level." ADTRAN shares were up $2.20, or 8.22%, during pre-market trading on Wednesday. Adtran Shares Fall on Q2 Results; Declares Dividend (ADTN)Jul 10, 2013Shares of network access solutions company ADTRAN, Inc. (ADTN) fell over 5% on Wednesday morning, following the release of the company's second quarter financial results. The Huntsville, AL-based company reported second quarter earnings of $9.86 million, or 17 cents per share, down 53% from $21.07 million, or 33 cents per share a year ago. The sharp decline in earnings was primarily due to higher expenses and declined sales. Adjusted earnings were 21 cents per share, compared to 38 cents per share last year. On average, analysts expected the company to report earnings of 16 cents per share. Revenue for the quarter was $162.23 million, down 12% from $184 million a year. Analysts expected to see revenue of $154.16 million. ADTN's CEO Tom Stant commented, "continuing improvement in our Internetworking and Broadband Access product areas led revenues which exceeded estimates for the quarter. During the quarter we benefited from market share gains, the geographic expansion we began last year and an improved spending environment." Additionally, the company's board has declared a cash dividend of 9 cents per share. This dividend will be paid on August 8 to shareholders of record on July 25. ADTRAN Slashes Q1 Sales Outlook Below View; Says EPS Will Miss, Too (ADTN)Mar 15, 2012Networking equipment maker ADTRAN, Inc. (ADTN) on Thursday lowered its first quarter sales outlook and provided EPS estimates below Wall Street expectations, citing order delays and slower seasonal buying. The Hunstville, AL-based company said it now expects first quarter revenue to range from $130 million to $135 million, down from a prior estimate of about $175.3 million. ADTRAN also pegged fist quarter EPS of 22 to 25 cents on an adjusted basis. On average, Wall Street analysts were expecting much higher profits of 44 cents per share, on much larger revenue of $174.6 million for the period. The company is slated to deliver its first quarter earnings report on April 11, 2012. Despite the seemingly negative news, ADTRAN shares posted modest gains in premarket trading Thursday.
