  • RLJ Lodging Posts Q2 FFO Spike (RLJ)

    After the bell on Tuesday, RLJ Lodging Trust (RLJ) announced its second quarter earnings, posting increases in RevPAR, ADR and Pro Forma Occupancy. The Maryland-based REIT, which focuses on premium and compact hotels, posted a Pro Forma revenue per available room (RevPAR) increase of 8.7%, a 2.3% increase in Pro Forma occupancy; and an average daily rate (ADR) increase of 6.3%. Funds from operations (FFO) came in at $74.8 million, a 34.1% increase from the same period last year. The company reported an adjusted FFO per diluted share and unit for the quarter at 61 cents. Thomas J. Baltimore, Jr., the president and CEO of RLJ, had the following comments: “We remain committed to maximizing shareholder value through selective acquisitions in high-barrier markets, value-add renovations, and conservative balance sheet management. As the economy continues to improve, we believe that our various value-enhancing strategies will continue to position us to deliver outsized growth.” The company gave guidance for the full year of a 6.5% to 8% growth in Pro Forma RevPAR, up from its previous view of 6% to 8% growth. Shares of RLJ Lodging Trust (RLJ) ended the day up 1 cent. The company's shares are up nearly 20% YTD.   • RLJ Buys Waikiki Marriott (RLJ)

    RLJ Lodging Trust (RLJ) announced earlier to day that it has purchased the Marriott hotel on Hawaii's Waikiki Beach for over $75.3 million. The popular beach along the south side of Honolulu has seen a huge jump in visitors and spending, outpacing even pre-recession levels in 2006 and 2007. This latest acquisition for RLJ has brought the total number of properties in the portfolio to 149. RLJ shares were up 19 cents, or  0.81% by the end of the trading day Tuesday.
