Ventas- (VTR)-operates as a healthcare real estate investment trust in the United States. It finances, owns, and leases healthcare related and senior housing facilities. As of December 31, 2005, Ventas owned 200 nursing facilities, 41 hospitals, and 139 seniors housing and other facilities in 42 states. It also leased 225 facilities, as of the above date. The company has elected to be taxed as a real estate investment trust. As a result, it would not be subject to corporate income tax on that portion of its net income that is distributed to shareholders. Ventas was founded in 1983 and is based in Louisville, Kentucky.

  • Ventas Reports Increase in FFO; Improves Outlook (VTR)

    On Friday, real estate investment trust Ventas, Inc. (VTR) reported a rise in its funds from operations (FFO) for the second quarter, which were in-line with analysts expectations. The Chicago, IL-based company posted second quarter FFO of $304.4 million, or $1.03 per share, up 29% from $236 million, or 81 cents per share a year ago. Normalized FFO for the quarter was $1.01 per share, matching analysts' estimates. Revenue for the quarter rose to $685.85 million, from $611.96 million in the second quarter of 2012. The rise in revenue was primarily a result of the company's recent acquisitions of senior home properties. On average, analysts expected to see revenue of $678.13 million. Looking ahead, VTR is expecting to see FFO for FY2013 to be between $4.06 and $4.10 per share, up from its previous range of FFO between $3.99 and $4.07 per share. Analysts expect to see FFO of $4.08 per share. Ventas shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading Friday. The stock is up 7% YTD. The Bottom Line Shares of Ventas, Inc.
