  • Deutsche Bank Initiates Coverage on Loews (L)

Deutsche Bank reported on Wednesday that it has started coverage on insurance company Loews Corporation (L) . The firm has initiated coverage on Loews with a "Buy" rating and $52 price target. This price target suggests a 14% upside from the stock's current price of $44.53. Analyst Joshua Shanker commented: "Essentially, we view Loews as an "investor/insurer" as small class of stocks with large investment positions and a core insurance business providing significant operating income from insurance operations (like Berkshire Hathaway). Loews is the cheapest of this peer group but seems little different in its ability to compound book value at a high-single digit clip with doubledigit book value growth coming from offshore drilling offsetting sub-par book value growth in its CNA insurance business." Loews shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading Wednesday. The stock is up 9% YTD.
