    Dow Chemical (DOW) reported its fourth quarter earnings early on Wednesday morning, with enough positive news to drive its shares up more than 7% in pre-market trading. DOW's Earnings in Brief
    • Dow Chemical reported fourth quarter sales of $14.4 billion, which were up 3% from last year's Q4 sales figure of $13.9 billion.
    • The company's net income available for common stockholders for the quarter came in at $793 million, up significantly from last year's Q4 figure of $389 million.
    • SWK's adjusted EPS came in at 65 cents, up from last year's Q4 adjusted EPS of 33 cents.
    • The company's Q4 results beat analysts' estimates of 43 cents EPS on revenues of $14.13 billion.
    • For the full year, Dow reported net sales of $57.1 billion and adjusted EPS of $2.48.
    CEO Commentary Dow's chairman and CEO Andrew N. Liveris had the following comments: "Dow’s fourth quarter and full-year performance is the result of successful execution against our stated goals and commitments throughout the year. We generated significant earnings growth, margin expansion and return on capital improvement through Dow-specific actions that gained momentum throughout 2013. Our focus in running a disciplined, integrated strategy, and managing our portfolio with targeted growth and productivity metrics by business and value chain was clearly evident in the quarter – demonstrated by the EBITDA gains we achieved across every operating segment." Dividend Raised 15.6%; Buyback Announced Dow Chemical announced a raise to its quarterly dividend, boosting the payout from 32 cents to 37 cents, making for an annualized payout of $1.48. The dividend is payable on April 30 to all shareholders on record March 31. The stock goes ex-dividend on March 27. The company also announced that it is adding to its share repurchase program, and will now be buying back $4.5 billion in shares in 2014. Stock Performance DOW stock was up $3.11, or 7.22%, in pre-market trading. So far this year, the company's stock is down 1.85%.
