The Athletic Stores segment operates athletic footwear and apparel stores under various formats, including Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and Footaction. This segment offers products for various activities, including basketball, hiking, tennis, aerobics, fitness, baseball, football, and soccer for males, women, and children. As of March 31, 2014, it operated 3,473 stores in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The company was founded in 1879 and is based in New York, New York. Foot Locker is affected by fashion trends, low barriers to entry in the sports fashion market, and reliance on its suppliers. Approximately 70% of its merchandise is purchased from Nike, Inc. Foot Locker has been paying dividends since 2003 and has consecutively increased them since 2011. Foot Locker pays its dividends quarterly.
