Except that 2022 is shaping up to be a mixed year for buyback activity.

After promises post-pandemic to see a real surge in activity, so far, buyback activity has been muted and flat. Aside from a few select firms, the number of buybacks hasn’t lived up to the hype. With many firms looking ahead at buybacks in the new year, should we pay attention to them?
