There’s no doubt about it, the bull market’s run has certainly been impressive to say the least. With stocks rising more than 250% since their lows, portfolios and balances are getting fat. And after years of rising equity prices, investors are undoubtedly feeling more confident these days. For the most part, fear has left the building. This has caused them to think a bit differently about their portfolios.
The latest survey by investment manager Eaton Vance highlights this fact.
The firm’s yearly survey of advisor/client wants/needs and relationships shows a very distinct shift in how they are feeling and what they are now looking for. And what they are looking for is income with a capital “I.”
With the focus now on generating growing income, a shift in our portfolios may be warranted. The trick is getting that income with a side of safety.
