It’s a scene right out of a Friday night thriller. Picture a zombie-like mass of people moving ever closer to their brokerage accounts and all pressing sell at the same time. The stock market crashes and everyone is left poorer, and then they pledge never to return to the days of yore.

That scene borders on hyperbole, but it’s exactly what some pundits think will happen as the Baby Boomer generation steps off into the sunset and retires en masse.

However, some things are better left to the movies.

The truth is, the Baby Boomer generation and their retirement won’t set off some sort of market slide and wreck things for future generations or drive down asset prices. A new study by Vanguard sets the market straight.
