They say that the stock market is a great predictor and disseminator of all known information.
Investors are pretty good at understanding the various metrics that affect a company. Generally, they are able to weight firms and assign new valuations in accordance with new information. Changes in forward guidance, regulation, etc., are generally priced pretty instantly. But, sometimes, the market can be a bit too forward-thinking in interpreting the impact of such forward-looking information.
And that could be what is happening right now.
Investors have already placed a lot of faith and expectation on future growth and policies. And, according to asset manager BlackRock, that doesn’t leave much in the way of upside surprise or potential. Valuations could already be too high.
