Can Renewable Energy Pay Dividends?

Let’s face the facts. The promise of alternative and renewable energy is great, but when it comes to paying the bills, renewable energy investments haven’t exactly kept up with that promise or potential. Given that renewable energy firms aren’t profitable or feature lumpy cash flows/profits, dividends aren’t exactly a priority.

Like most growth industries, many renewable energy firms simply can’t afford to make a dividend payment. And the ones that can tend to plow whatever money they make back into underlying businesses or put away for a rainy day, because those dreary days happen more often than not in the sector. It seems that dividend investors are out of luck when it comes to buying renewable energy stocks.

Except that they may not be.

By focusing our attention differently towards renewable energy, it is possible to collect some pretty decent dividends from solar, wind and other renewable energy sources.
