Profiles of three dividend-oriented mutual fund managers and their three winning funds recently featured in a New York Times mutual fund/ETF section reveal what’s right and wrong in the media’s coverage of investing.

The three funds — the Artisan Value Fund (ARTLX), the SunAmerica Focused Dividend Strategy Portfolio (FDSAX), and the Deutsche Croci Equity Dividend Fund (KDHAX) — were selected for how they recently outperformed the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index.
