Computer Sciences Announces New Acquisition (CSC)


Computer Sciences (CSC) announced today that it has acquired Infochimps, an Austin-based provider of big data platform-as-a-service for enterprise businesses.

CSC, one of the top IT firms in the world, hopes the acquisition will accelerate the development of the company’s data services platform and will scale its big data business. Infochimp is known for its unique, open source-based Big Data and cloud expertise. It specializes in real-time data processing and analytics, batch analytics, and ad hoc analytics. Now, Infochimp’s team will be able to leverage CSC’s global network of 87,000 employees.

Commenting on the acquisition, CSC’s Vice President of Big Data and Analytics Sashi Reddi noted “This acquisition aligns directly with CSC’s focus on next-generation technology solutions and services. Infochimps’ expertise in building industrial-strength data platforms on open source technologies will advance CSC’s big data capabilities significantly.”

Computer Sciences Shares fell 3.91% during Thursday’s session. Year-to-date, the stock is up 30.60%.
