Union Pacific’s Q4 Profit Beats, but Revenue Misses (UNP)
Railroad operator Union Pacific Corporation (UNP



) on Thursday posted mixed fiscal fourth quarter earnings results, as shipments of automobiles and chemicals increased, while coal shipments continued to decline.
The Omaha-based company reported fiscal fourth quarter net income of $1 billion, or $2.19 per share, compared with $964 million, or $1.99 per share, in the year-ago period.
Revenue rose 3% from last year to $5.25 billion.
On average, Wall Street analysts expected a smaller profit of $2.16 per share, albeit on higher revenue of $5.3 billion.
Union Pacific shares fell $1.40, or -1%, in premarket trading Thursday.
