  • EMC Corp Hits Q2 Estimates, Sees Healthy Business Growth (EMC)

    Computer storage company EMC Corporation (EMC) announced its Q2 earnings on Wednesday morning, with EPS in-line with analysts' estimates. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated that EMC would have earnings of 42 cents for the quarter and Q2 revenue of $5.61 billion; both of these figures were met by the Massachusetts-based firm in its quarterly report. EMC's revenue was up from $5.31 billion reported in the same quarter last year. The company saw growth in revenue across all of its business in the quarter. EMC Corporation gave FY2013 guidance for its consolidated revenues at $23.5 billion, while analysts have it pegged at $23.41 billion. EMC expects EPS of $1.85 as compared to analysts' estimates of $1.86. EMC's shares were up $1.37, or 5.41%, in pre-market trading, and the company is up nearly 2% YTD.   • EMC Corporation to Acquire Aveksa (EMC)

    Information technology company EMC Corporation (EMC) announced on Monday that it has agreed to acquire security company Aveksa. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but it was reported that it will be effective immediately. Aveksa will be included in EMC's security division and will remain in Waltham, MA. EMC reported that this purchase will not affect its FY2013 earnings. Director of product management for RSA Nirav Mehta commented, “this brings us more identity management and intelligence." “Aveksa handles everything about the user life cycle, how their change in roles are managed and how business context affects their permissions and tracks all that through the life cycle," Mehta added. EMC shares were up 13 cents, or 0.54%, during Monday morning trading. The stock has been mostly flat YTD.   • Rajesh Ghai Upgrades EMC Corporation (EMC)

    Craig-Hallum's Rajesh Ghai announced today that the information tech company EMC Corporation (EMC) was upgraded from a hold to a buy. Analysts put the firm's new price target at $30, up significantly from its last target of $26. Ghai attributed his upgrade to the EMC's new product portfolio, which he thinks will likely drive continued growth. The analyst noted that there may be a possibility of EMC offering a new cloud-based service to its lineup. Despite the upgrade, shares of EMC slipped 34 cents, or -1.4%, during Wednesday's session.   • Moody's Issues "A1" Credit Rating To EMC Corporation (EMC)

    Moody's recently announced that it has issued an "A1" rating along with a stable outlook for EMC Corporation (EMC) ahead of the company's first debt offering. EMC Corporation recently announced a huge buyback along with their first ever dividend payout, which has in turn prompted it to offer $5.5 billion worth of debt. The maturities on the debt notes are from five to 10 years and have received favorable credit ratings from both Moody's and S&P. Moody's commented, "EMC’s liquidity profile is expected to remain strong, with total cash and liquid investments of $12 billion and consistent free cash flow generation. Half of EMC’s cash is maintained domestically,". EMC shares closed in the green on Thursday, gaining 1.89% on the day. The stock is down 2% YTD.
