Comtech Telecommunications Posts Lower Q4 Revenues; Beats Estimates (CMTL)Oct 3, 2013After the bell on Thursday, Comtech Telecommunications (CMTL) announced its fourth quarter and full year earnings, with net sales coming lower for both time periods compared to the year prior. The Melville, NY-based telecommunications company posted net sales for the quarter of $84.4 million, which was down from last year's quarterly figure of $112.8 million. The company posted net income of $5.16 million, or 28 cents per diluted share, which was down from last year's Q4 net income of $7.93 million, or 38 cents per diluted share. Though the company's figures were lower for the quarter, they still beat analysts' estimate of 22 cents EPS on revenues of $83.68 million. For the full-year, CMTL announced net sales of $319.8 million, which was down from 2012's $425.07 million. The company also reported net income of $17.81 million, or 97 cents per diluted share, a drop from last year's $32.42 million, or $1.42 per diluted share. Analysts were expecting full year EPS to come in at 89 cents on revenues of $316.25 million. CMTL shares were down 26 cents, or 1.08%, at Thursday's market close. Comtech Shares Get Pummeled after Q2 Profit Falls 50%(CMTL)Mar 10, 2009Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (CMTL) said Monday that its fiscal second quarter profit fell 50% from the year-ago period, sending its shares falling over 35% in morning trading Tuesday. The Melville, New York-based company, which produces telecommunications equipment, reported second quarter net income of $12.8 million, or 46 cents per share, a 50% drop from the year-ago quarter, when it earned $25.5 million, or 91 cents per share. Sales for the quarter dropped 5.4% to $143.9 million from $152 million in the year-ago period. On average, Wall Street analysts expected profits of 44 cents per share on sales of $151.2 million. The Bottom Line Shares of CMTL are now more than 50% off all-time highs of $54 a share, hit in October of 2007. The stock has technical support in the $22 price range. If that fails, we may test the $11-13 zone next. If the shares can stage a rebound, we see overhead resistance in the $34-35 price area. We do not currently rate this non-dividend paying stock, but we do follow the stock and the telecom equipment sector closely. Comtech Telecommunications Corp.
