The company, formerly known as Capital Cable Television Co., Ltd., was founded in 1966. It changed its name to Shaw Cablesystems, Ltd. in 1984 and to Shaw Communications, Inc. in 1993. Shaw Communications is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.
