    Before the opening bell on Friday, electrical equipment and components manufacturer AZZ Incorporated (AZZ) reported a 3% year-over-year rise in second quarter profits on 24% higher revenues. However, both results missed Wall Street analysts' estimates. Furthermore, the company lowered its fiscal 2014 outlook. The Fort Worth, Texas-based company posted a second quarter net income of $16.4 million, or 64 cents per share, up from the $15.9 million, or 62 cents per share, earned in the same period a year ago. On an adjusted basis, AZZ Inc.'s second quarter earnings came in at $14.68 million, or 57 cents per share. According to analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, the company was expected to earn an adjusted 66 cents per share in the quarter. AZZ Incorporated's revenues were $189.9 million in the quarter, up from $153.4 million posted in the same quarter last year. On average, analysts were expecting the company to see revenues of $202.83 million, however. Looking ahead to the third quarter, AZZ Inc. sees revenues coming in between $210 million and $230 million with earnings between 65 cents and 75 cents per share. Analysts expect the company to earn 95 cents per share on revenues of $248.03 million for the quarter. Moreover, the company now expects to see revenues in the range of $780 million and $810 million for fiscal 2014, down from the previous view of revenues between $825 million and $900 million. Furthermore, the company now expects to earn between $2.45 and $2.65 per share for the year, down from the previous outlook of $2.65 to $2.95 per share. Analysts are expecting the company to earn $2.83 per share on revenues of $844.56 million for the year. AZZ Inc. shares were down $2.19, or 5.08%, during pre-market trading on Friday. The stock is up 12.18% year-to-date.
