    On Tuesday, financial services company Regions Financial Corporation (RF) posted its second quarter financial results, which dipped from last year. Despite the decline in earnings, the company still beat analysts earnings estimates. The Birmingham, AL-based company reported second quarter earnings of $259 million, or 18 cents per share, down from $284 million, or 20 cents per share a year ago. On average, analysts expected to see earnings of 21 cents per share. Total revenue for the quarter dropped to $1.305 billion from $1.345 billion in the second quarter of 2012. Analysts expected to see earnings of $1.31 per share. The decline in mortgage and credit card income resulted in a 1% drop in non-interest income. Non-interest expenses rose 5% to $884 million during the quarter. The company reported that total deposits declined by 3% to $92.45 billion, while total loans fell 2% to $74.99 billion. Regions Financial shares were down 24 cents, or 2.30%, during Tuesday morning trading. The stock is up 43% YTD.
