  • W.P. Carey Acquires UK Government Office for $72 Million (WPC)

    Real estate investment trust W.P. Carey Inc. (WPC) announced on Tuesday that it has acquired an UK government office facility for $72 million. WPC has acquired an office facility from the Department of State for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) located in Manchester, UK. This office is leased to the DCLG on a 15 year triple net lease and is currently occupied by the UK's tax department. Jennifer Lucas, Director of WPC commented: "The recent staff consolidation into the facility demonstrates that this is an important location for HMRC and supports our proven business model of acquiring key operating assets let to single tenants on long-term net-leases."   • W.P. Carey Sees Increase in Q2 Profit, Adjusted Funds From Operations, and Revenues (WPC)

    Before the opening bell on Tuesday, real estate investment trust W.P. Carey Inc. (WPC) reported that it saw an increase in both net income and adjusted fund from operations in the second quarter. The New York, New York-based company posted a second quarter net income of $43.17 million, up from $31.78 million a year ago. On a per share basis, earnings fell to 62 cents from 77 cents last year. The company's adjusted funds from operations came in at $72.64 million, or $1.05 per share, up from $27.82 million, or 68 cents per share, in the same period a year ago. W.P. Carey's second quarter revenues were $103.6 million, compared to the $46.6 million posted in the same period in 2012. W. P. Carey President and CEO Trevor Bond, noted, "We are very pleased with both our second quarter results and the announcement of our proposed merger with CPA®:16 – Global, another milestone transaction which will significantly increase our real estate assets under ownership and reinforce our status as a leading global net-lease REIT. As we have for four decades, we will continue to focus on our strategy of disciplined investing in order to generate stable and growing cash flows and dividend income for our investors." W.P.   • W.P. Carey Declares Q2 Dividend; Raises Payout By 2.4% (WPC)

    Late on Wednesday, real estate investment trust W.P. Carey Inc. (WPC) declared its second quarter dividend, raising its quarterly payout by 2.4%. The company will now pay a dividend of 84 cents per share, up from its previous quarterly payout of 82 cents per share. This dividend will be payable on July 15 with an ex-dividend date of June 27. W.P. Carey also noted that this new dividend payout is the company's 49th consecutive dividend increase. W.P. Carey shares were up $1.04, or +1.62%, during pre-market trading on Friday.
