  • ING Groep to Sell Shares in ING US Inc (VOYA)

    On Friday, Dutch company ING Groep announced that it will be selling off shares in the American arm of its firm, ING US Inc (VOYA) . VOYA went public in May of this year, and its Dutch parent company currently holds a stake in 71% of the company. ING US will rebrand as Voya Financial, according to the Associated Press. ING Groerp did not disclose the timing or size of the sale. VOYA shares were down 48 cents, or 1.62%, at market close on Monday. YTD the company's stock is up over 44%.

The firm has cut its rating on VOYA from "Neutral" to "Underweight," and has given the company a $30 price target. This price target suggests a 6% decline from the stock's current price of $31.75.   • ING US Beats Q2 Estimates (VOYA)

    On Wednesday, financial services company ING US Inc (VOYA) reported a net loss for its second quarter due to an after tax loss, but still beat analysts' estimates on an adjusted basis. The New York, NY-based company posted a second quarter net loss of $82.2 million, or 33 cents per share, compared to net income of $634.4 million, or $2.76 per share, a year ago. The company reported that a $220 million after tax loss caused a net loss for the quarter. After tax operating earnings came in at $177 million, or 71 cents per share, up from $129 million, or 56 cents per share, in last year's same quarter. Analysts expected to see earnings of 62 cents per share. Rodney O. Martin, Jr., Chairman and CEO of ING U.S noted, "ING U.S. had a strong second quarter as we continued to deliver on our ROE improvement objective with our Ongoing Business adjusted operating ROE growing - on an annualized basis - to 9.9% for the first half of 2013, up from 8.3% for the full year 2012." "During the quarter, we saw positive results among several key measures. Total assets under management and administration grew to $482 billion supported by net flows in our Retirement and Investment Management segments of $442 million and $3.1 billion, respectively. At the same time, we continued to re-position our Individual Life segment with a focus on less capital-intensive products, while also investing in our Employee Benefits product set," Martin added.
