  • First Republic Bank Q2 Profit Jumps 29%; EPS and Revenues Beat Estimates (FRC)

    Financial services company First Republic Bank (FRC) reported before the opening bell on Wednesday that it saw an increase in second quarter profits and revenue, topping Wall Street expectations. The San Francisco-based company posted second quarter net income of $104.01 million, or 77 cents per share, up 29% from $80.62 million, or 60 cents per share, in the same quarter a year ago. According to analyst polled by Thomson Reuters, First Republic was expected to earn a lower profit of 74 cents per share in the quarter. The bank's second quarter revenues rose 12% to $365.3 million from $327.2 million last year. Adjusted total revenues came in at $331.82 million from $275.05 million in the second quarter in 2012. Analysts were expecting First Republic to post smaller revenues of $303.08 million for the quarter. Net interest income was $303.1 million in the quarter, up from $290.6 million last year. Non interest income rose to $62.3 million in the second quarter from $25.6 million in 2012. "Record loan originations and renewed deposit growth were the result of healthy conditions in our markets and the continued execution of our business model," said Katherine August-deWilde, President and Chief Operating Officer of First Republic Bank. "Wealth management assets grew substantially, rising $5.7 billion through the first six months of the year." Furthermore, the company declared its next quarterly dividend payout of 12 cents per share to be paid on August 15 to shareholders of record on August 1. The ex-dividend date is expected to be July 30. First Republic Bank shares were inactive during pre-market trading on Wednesday. The stock is up 21.11% year-to-date.
