Steelcase Announces Higher Q2 Revenue, Lower EPS (SCS)Sep 18, 2013On Wednesday after the bell, Steelcase Inc. (SCS) announced its Q2 earnings, which missed analysts' EPS and revenue estimates. The Grand Rapids, MI-based office furniture company announced second quarter revenue of $757.6 million, which was up slightly from last year's Q2 figure of $744.9 million. On the earnings front, however, the company declined from 2012, with quarterly EPS coming in at 24 cents (not including a 2 cent restructuring charged) compared to last year's 25 cents EPS (also not including the restructuring charge of 2 cents). Analysts were expecting EPS of 26 cents on revenues of $773.33 million. Looking forward to Q3, the company announced that it expects to see EPS in the range of 23 cents to 27 cents, including a 1 cent restructuring cost. SCS shares were up 21 cents, or 1.34%, at the end of trading on Wednesday. YTD, the company's stock is up over 19%.Expand to read the full story

Steelcase Reports Flat Q1 Earnings; Declares Dividend (SCS)Jun 20, 2013Shares of office furniture maker, Steelcase Inc. (SCS) fell on Thursday morning after the company reported flat net income for the first quarter. The Grand Rapids, MI based company reported first quarter earnings of $13.2 million or 10 cents per share, which is flat from last year. Excluding special items, earnings were 13 cents per share, which were in-line with analysts estimates. Revenue fell to $667.1 million, from $675.2 million a year ago. Analysts expected to see revenue of $667.1 million. Chief Executive James Hackett noted, "following twelve consecutive quarters of year-over-year organic revenue growth, we experienced a modest decline in the first quarter. We are not too concerned with this decline, as order growth in the Americas was better than expected, resulting in a strong quarter-end backlog, and customer visits and project activity remain high." Additionally, the company declared its next dividend of 10 cents which will be paid on or around July 12 to shareholders of record on July 1. Looking forward, the company expects to see earnings for the second quarter between 22 cents and 26 cents per share and revenue between $760 million and $785 million. Analysts expect to see earnings of 27 cents per share and $771.3 million in revenue. Steelcase shares were down 63 cents, or -4.16% during premarket trading Thursday. The stock is up 19% YTD.
