Great Northern Iron- (GNI)-engages in the leasing and maintenance of its mineral properties in Minnesota. As of December 31, 2006, the company owned mineral interests in 12,033 acres on the Mesabi Iron Formation, including approximately 7,443 acres that are wholly owned. Great Northern Iron Ore Properties was founded in 1906 and is based in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
