  • Ensco to Buy Pride Int'l for $7.31 Billion in Cash and Stock (ESV)

    Offshore contract driller Ensco plc (ESV) on Monday said it would buy fellow driller Pride International (PDE) in a cash and stock deal worth a total of $7.31 billion. The $41.60 per-share asking price represents a 21% premium over PDE's Friday closing price of $34.39. In pursuant to the deal, current Pride shareholders will receive $15.60 in cash and 0.4778 newly-issued Ensco shares for each PDE share they currently own. In total, Ensco will pay about $2.8 billion of the total asking price in cash, with the remainder coming in stock. Ensco shares fell $1.56, or -2.9%, in premarket trading Monday. The Bottom Line Shares of Ensco plc (ESV) have a 2.57% dividend yield, based on Friday's closing stock price of $54.41. The stock has technical support in the $50 price area.
