To compile this list, we compared the total dividend payouts, including special one-time cash dividends that each company in our database made in 2007 to those in 2008. As such, some stocks on this list may have actually raised their annual payouts from 2007 to 2008, but as a result of paying a special one-time dividend in 2007, the total amount paid out would be higher in 2007 vs. 2008.
