Today's date is truly a tough day and reminder for many of us who witnessed the atrocities of the attack from wherever they were. I remember being home that morning and watching the events unfold on TV and witnessing the 2nd plane go into the other tower. My dad was scheduled for kidney stone surgery that day and I was not sure what was happening. One minute it was a regular morning and the next minute our lives were tossed in a state of chaos. I go to make a land-line call and all the lines are busy. My wife is darting out the door to go get my two girls who were in school and I was trying to calmly decide what is happening. Living in New York at the time, I felt that if these attacks were going to keep coming, I felt that a plan for the day was needed. Suddenly my cell rings (the last time it would work that day) and it's the hospital telling me to come pick up my dad who I had dropped off at 6:00am. The procedure had been canceled and I needed to go get him. I found what looked like a war zone at the hospital with barricades set up and I spotted my dad in a wheelchair in his hospital robe looking rather confused and scared. I calmed him down and said things were going to be alright. I found myself being the voice of calm, where deep down inside I was as nervous as anyone. It was at that moment I came to the conclusion that life as we all know it is a true miracle. The trip to Disney we kept promising the kids, the one-on-one dinner with my wife I kept pushing back and all the phone calls to the special people we all tend to forget about, suddenly meant everything to me. I wanted to turn back time and wish the day never happened and I could say I was living life to it's fullest and being the best person I can be. The kids got home, my dad got home and at that point, life for myself as well as many others I'm sure meant so much more. The stupid things I would worry about were deleted for good. I set my schedule differently these days, even with the magnitude of the project Dividend.com is. One day a week, it's all family day. At night I kiss the kids to sleep, tell them about my day, hear about theirs and then go back to working online. I also try to have dinner with them as much as I can. At the end of all we accomplish, we will be remembered for not our financial status, but truly how we treated others and remembering to give without worrying about the consequence of what we will receive. My Dividend.com family would like to take this time to thank all of our bravest who commit their lives to protecting this country in every way and also to those who have sacrificed their lives so that all of us can live in a country with the liberties that we have.
